Clincher: ALWAYS keep in mind that equality and worth is founded in creation and no where else Our differences are BUILT IN. We are by nature definably and irreducibly male and female. MAN and WOMAN are REAL categories and not social constructs. We have to start here in Genesis 1-3 to get the answers and an understanding for the rest of the Bible when it comes to biblical manhood and womanhood. KEEP IN MIND – In the state of creation in the garden before sin entered the picture this order was perfect and complete. God Himself describes it as VERY GOOD 1. God made man first 2:7 NT appeal – I Timothy 2:13 Paul is inspired writer led by the Holy Spirit – we must then pay attention to the order Initial half of the pair – God made man first In being the initial one made it says something to his role in initiating It says something about his role in headship – leadership I Cor 11:3; Eph 5:23 Gen 2:24 – the initiating is done by the husband This concept is not about SUPERIORITY but about responsibility and care 2. Cultivate and Keep the garden 2:15 Work it – tend it Primary idea us work it with results The reward of the work is the provision Adam was given the responsibility to work and provide in the garden Keep it Has the idea of vigilant care – not a passive involvement The man as apart of his biblical masculinity is to GUARD and PROTECT by VIGILANT care the things and people God has placed in our care 3. Moral Guardian of the garden 2:16, 17 1. Receive it – god gave it to Adam and now he must receive it Make it his own Committed to live by it 2.
