Donny Coulter Speaking Jeff and Moriah on worship Use the Gifts Right Romans 12:1-8 Prophesy in proportion to faith - Points of understanding – available today; fallible in its use; not gender specific; should be tested or weighed - For learning, encouragement, exhorting, edifying and comfort Serving to serve - This gift describes the person who has a heart to serve - Lack of the gift does not give anyone a pass on serving o Gal 5:13; I Cor 1:19 - You may not have the gift of serving but we are called to and need to be serving o Busy lives – usually give up church service first Teaching to teach - Formal or informal instruction with the aim to give understanding - The purpose of teaching is to take someone from where they are to where they need to be - Some of you have the gift of teaching – but you are not using - a general call to teach o Col 3:16; Titus 2:3-5; 2 Timothy 2:1,2 Exhorting to exhort - likely the idea of calling alongside a particular action or conduct - Some people have this gift - But the bible instructs the general church to be doing this with one another! Heb 10:24, 25 Giving liberally - To give from oneself what is particularly mine - With singleness of mind – without ulterior motive o Luke 3:11; Rom 1:11; Eph 4:28 - Some have the gift but we are all called to give like the Macedonians - 2 Cor 8:1-5 Leading with diligence - To stand before and preside with eagerness - Its hard to lead when someone doesn’t want to be lead – keep going! Mercy with cheerfulness - Compassion or pity with cheerfulness - Gladness not madness
